The African pompano is a strong, deep-bodied saltwater fish found in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Known for its solitary behavior, it thrives in shallow coastal waters and mid-depth zones. It preys mainly on slow-moving crustaceans and smaller fish, making it a rewarding catch for anglers.
Where they live
Found in shallow coastal to mid-depth waters up to 60 meters deep across the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Juveniles stay near shore, while adults inhabit waters near the bottom within the neritic and oceanic zones.
