Ayu sweetfish is a slender, elongated fish prized as a game fish. It inhabits rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and estuaries across Asia and the Pacific. This species grazes on algae and small aquatic organisms.

Where they live

Found in upper to middle river reaches, lakes, reservoirs, and estuaries, often in shallow riffles and pools with rocky and pebbly bottoms up to 10 meters deep.
