The barndoor skate is a large, bottom-dwelling ray found in Atlantic waters. It is a voracious predator that feeds on various marine animals. This species can tolerate a wide range of temperatures and inhabits depths up to 430 meters.
Where they live
Found along North American Atlantic coasts from shoreline to 430 meters deep, inhabiting all bottom types. Prefers cooler waters and may avoid shallow southern shoals in warm months.
