The bigmouth sanddab is a small flatfish known for its short and deep body shape. It inhabits soft bottom areas such as bays and estuaries and can occasionally be found in freshwater. This species feeds primarily on larger bottom-dwelling invertebrates and small fish.

Where they live

Lives on soft bottoms in bays, estuaries, and trawling grounds, sometimes entering freshwater. Found across North and South America in Pacific waters, down to depths of around 36 meters.
