The Bigscale anchovy is a small, elongated fish found in coastal brackish and saltwater environments. Juveniles inhabit sandy beaches and bays, while adults move further offshore up to 50 meters deep. It feeds by filtering plankton from the water.

Where they live

Found inshore along sandy beaches and tide streams in brackish and saltwater, mainly in the Pacific region of North America. Juveniles stay nearshore, adults venture farther out to depths of up to 50 meters.
