The Blackbar devil is a small, colorful damselfish commonly seen around coral reefs. It is opportunistic, feeding on filamentous algae, small invertebrates, and occasionally small fish. This species is not pursued as a game fish but adds vibrant life to tropical reef ecosystems.

Where they live

Found in clear lagoon and seaward reefs within the Pacific and Indian Oceans, especially around coral-rich surge zones and Pocillopora or Acropora corals, at depths from the surface down to 20 meters.
