The Bulldog, also called the Elephant nose, is a freshwater fish known for its unique appearance and nocturnal behavior. It prefers well-vegetated river margins and floodplains and tends to shoal, moving inshore after dark. This species is a predator that hunts various insect larvae and nymphs.
Where they live
Found in African freshwater habitats, especially muddy, vegetated river margins, floodplains, and swamps. It is common in standing deep water and shallow flood areas and occasionally found in sandy or rocky streams. Moves within rivers and is nocturnal.
