The Cachama, also known as Tambaqui or Blackfin pacu, is a large freshwater fish notable for its deep body and strong build. It primarily inhabits flooded forests and floodplain black waters, feeding on fruits, nuts, and some aquatic plants. This species is a prized game fish due to its size and fighting ability.

Where they live

Found in freshwater flooded forests and blackwater floodplains across parts of South America and introduced regions in North America, Asia, and Oceania, usually at shallow depths up to 5 meters.
