The Clanwilliam sandfish is an elongated freshwater cyprinid found in African rivers. It often inhabits deep pools and runs, grazing on algae and detritus. This species can reach up to about 35 cm and is a popular target for freshwater anglers.

Where they live

Inhabits mainstream river channels and larger tributaries in Africa, preferring pools and deep flowing runs. Found in freshwater habitats with rocky and soft sediment areas.
