The comet grouper is a striking saltwater predator found mainly around atolls and continental shelves in the Indo-Pacific region. It is known for its impressive size and vibrant patterning, making it a valued catch for anglers. This species hunts smaller fish and crustaceans along reef habitats.
Where they live
Inhabits continental shelves and atolls in the Indo-Pacific region including the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Found at depths ranging from 80 to 370 meters. Less common in some areas like Tahiti but more abundant in reef atolls.
