The concertina fish is a demersal species found in shallow waters, favoring sandy or muddy bottoms as well as reefs and rocky areas. It hunts benthic macrofauna like crabs, shrimp, and marine worms. This fish grows up to 50 cm in length and has a distinctive short, deep body shape with banded markings.
