The finescale mora is a deepwater fish found along continental slopes in the Pacific. It has a fusiform body and can grow up to 75 cm long. This species feeds mainly on benthic invertebrates and exhibits some degree of sex segregation in its habitat.

Lives in saltwater on continental slopes of the North American Pacific coast, typically between 800 and 1800 meters deep.
