The Gag is a popular game fish known for its robust size and fight. It is a predatory grouper with a charcoal belly coloring. Found mostly in the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico, it inhabits a range of depths.

Gags live in salt and brackish waters of North America, mainly in the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico, at depths from 30 to 160 meters.
