The Gnomefish is a deepwater species known for its fusiform body and predatory habits. Adults dwell in rocky habitats at depths between 200 and 700 meters, while juveniles are found in shallow waters near Sargassum beds. They feed on fishes, squids, and crustaceans.

Where they live

Found in deep rocky areas from 200 to 700 meters deep, mainly in saltwater regions across Africa, the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. Juveniles inhabit shallow Sargassum beds.
