The green jack is a predatory fish common in coastal and deeper waters of the Pacific. It is a fast-swimming hunter that feeds mainly on silver-colored fish, squid, and shrimp. Juveniles often inhabit estuaries before moving to open waters as they mature.
Where they live
Green jacks are found from shallow estuaries to the continental shelf up to 100 meters deep in Pacific brackish and saltwater environments. They often stay near the coast but can occur in deeper waters.
