The hogfish is a striking saltwater species known for its elongated snout and deep body shape. It is a skilled predator that hunts mobile invertebrates on reefs and open bottoms. Valued by anglers, it can grow up to nearly one meter and weigh around 11 kilograms.

Where they live

Hogfish inhabit coral reefs and open bottoms in the Atlantic, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico, typically found between 3 and 30 meters deep where gorgonians thrive.
