The humphead snapper is a striking red fish known for its stout body and a distinctive hump on its head. It is a nocturnal predator that feeds mainly at night. This species is prized by anglers for its size and fighting ability.

Where they live

Found in coral and rocky reefs from shallow waters around 9 meters to depths of 150 meters, often near offshore banks with turbid waters. Common in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, including regions off South Africa and East Africa.
