The Leatherjacket is a fast-moving schooling fish often found leaping near the water surface. It inhabits sandy beaches, bays, inlets, and estuaries, preferring turbid waters. This agile predator feeds mainly on small fish and shrimps.
Where they live
Inshore species found along sandy beaches, bays, and estuaries in brackish and saltwater, down to 50 meters. Prefers turbid waters and forms large schools.
