The Madeiran sardinella is a small, fast-swimming coastal fish often found in schools. It adapts well to varying salinity levels and thrives in shallow to medium depths. This species feeds primarily on tiny plankton and fish larvae.

Where they live

Found along coasts and in estuaries of Africa, Atlantic, and Mediterranean regions. Prefers warm surface waters around 24°C, from the surface down to 50 meters. Often forms large schools and migrates seasonally.
