The Malabar grouper is a large, predatory fish commonly found in coral reefs, estuaries, and mangroves. It changes sex during its lifetime and primarily hunts fish and crustaceans. Highly prized by anglers, it can grow to impressive sizes.

Where they live

Found across Asia and the Indo-Pacific, Malabar groupers inhabit coral and rocky reefs, tide pools, estuaries, mangroves, and sandy or muddy bottoms down to 150 meters.
