The marbled lungfish is an elongated freshwater fish found in African rivers, swamps, and floodplains. It is known for its ability to breathe air by surfacing regularly throughout the day. This species is more active at dusk and during the night, hunting a variety of fish and aquatic animals.

Found in shallow waters of rivers, lake fringes, swamps, and floodplains across Africa. Prefers inshore areas near swamps and stays active especially during dusk and nighttime.
