The Nile perch is a large freshwater predator known for its impressive size and strength. It inhabits various freshwater habitats, preferring sandy bottoms but found in rocky or muddy areas as well. Juveniles live among vegetation, while adults mainly feed on smaller fish and shrimp.
Where they live
Found in freshwater lakes and rivers across Africa and parts of North America, Nile perch favor sandy, rocky, or muddy bottoms with calm vegetated zones for young fish. Depth range spans 10 to 60 meters.
