The Oceanic Lightfish is a tiny, bioluminescent fish found in deep open oceans worldwide. It inhabits midwater depths and feeds mainly on small plankton at night. Its slender, fusiform body helps it navigate the mesopelagic zone efficiently.

Where they live

Found in deep ocean waters from 20 to 5000 meters globally, including the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian Ocean, and Gulf of Mexico. Prefers mesopelagic zones and mostly active feeding during nighttime.
