The Pirapitinga is a freshwater fish known for its deep, short body and impressive size potential. Juveniles mimic the piranha species Serrasalmus nattereri for protection. This species primarily feeds on fruits but also consumes insects and plant matter.

Where they live

Found in freshwater habitats across North and South America, as well as introduced populations in Asia and Oceania. Prefers areas with abundant vegetation and fruiting trees.
