The Red cornetfish is an elongated predator known for its flute-like mouth and slender body. It inhabits coral reefs and coastal soft bottom areas, hunting small fish and shrimp. This species can grow up to 2 meters long and is valued as a game fish.

Found in brackish and saltwater regions of the Atlantic and Mediterranean, typically over soft bottoms from 10 to 200 meters deep near coral reefs.
