The Red hind is a robust grouper species found in shallow reefs and rocky bottoms. It is a carnivorous predator feeding primarily on crabs, shrimps, lobsters, various reef fishes, and octopus. Known also as Deady or Lucky grouper, it is popular among game fishers.
Where they live
Inhabits shallow reefs and rocky areas up to 100 meters deep in the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, and western Atlantic. Commonly associated with seagrass beds.
