The Reeves shad is a schooling anadromous fish known for migrating from coastal waters into rivers to breed. It lives near the sea surface as an adult and spends its early years in estuaries and river tide pools. This species filters plankton and small organisms from the water to feed.
Where they live
Found in coral reef regions of Asia, Pacific, and the Indian Ocean, this anadromous fish lives in saltwater, brackish, and freshwater up to 50 meters deep, schooling near the surface and ascending rivers during breeding season.
