The Ribbontail stingray is a small, strikingly blue-spotted ray found in shallow sandy waters near coral reefs and lagoons. It feeds on small fish and various benthic invertebrates by hunting along the sea floor. This species often hides under sand patches or reef ledges for camouflage and protection.

Inhabits shallow saltwater environments up to 20 meters deep, commonly near coral reefs and coastal lagoons across the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
