The Roudi escolar is an elongated saltwater fish found around oceanic islands and continental slopes. It migrates to midwater zones at night and is a predator feeding on fish, cephalopods, and crustaceans. This species is known by several common names including Bermuda catfish and Night serpent.

Inhabits continental slopes, oceanic islands, and submarine rises in Atlantic saltwater, ranging from 80 to 800 meters deep. Often migrates to midwater at night.
