The Senegalese tonguesole is a flatfish with an elongated body that lives in a variety of water types from freshwater to saltwater. It hunts small fish and bottom-dwelling animals. This species is mainly found along the west coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean.

Found in shallow to moderately deep waters from 10 to 110 meters along the Atlantic coast of Africa. It inhabits freshwater, brackish, and saltwater environments.
