The sharp-spined notothenia is a small, fusiform fish found in cold southern oceans. It primarily feeds on errant polychaetes and other small invertebrates. This species is not considered a game fish and has a modest maximum length of about 30 cm.

Where they live

Found in cold saltwater environments of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, it inhabits depths from the surface down to over 700 meters. It lives mainly near the seafloor where it hunts small marine invertebrates.
