The short-finned eel is a long, slender fish found in freshwater, brackish, and saltwater environments. It is diadromous, migrating between the sea and freshwater during its life. Known for its hunting skills, it preys on various small fish and aquatic creatures.
Where they live
Found in slow flowing streams, lakes, coastal lagoons, rivers, swamps, and farm dams across Asia, Oceania, and the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It lives in both freshwater and estuarine waters and can inhabit depths from shallow zones to deep waters.
