The Shortjaw lizardfish is a bottom-dwelling predator with an elongated body shape. It inhabits sandy or muddy sea bottoms and uses ambush tactics to hunt prey. This species is not typically targeted by game fishers.
Where they live
Lives on sandy or muddy bottoms from shallow waters around 25 meters down to depths of 550 meters. Found in the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico.
