The Shortnose sturgeon is an elongated, ancient fish found mainly along North America's Atlantic coast. It inhabits river mouths, lakes, estuaries, and sometimes the open sea. This species feeds on insects and crustaceans during its growth season from spring to early fall.
Where they live
Found in freshwater, brackish, and saltwater environments along the Atlantic coast of North America. Prefers deeper channels in rivers, estuaries, and bays, usually at depths between 6 and 53 meters.
