The sleek unicornfish is a striking reef species known for its elongated body and distinctive blacktongue. It forms shoals and is mainly active during the day. This species feeds on a mix of zooplankton and sometimes algae, thriving in clear lagoon and reef slope habitats.

Found in clear lagoons and seaward reef slopes of the Pacific and Indian Oceans, often forming shoals from shallow waters down to 150 meters.
