The smallfin gulper shark is a deepwater shark known for its elongated body and modest size. It inhabits continental shelf and slope regions in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. This species preys mainly on other dogfish sharks and macroscopic marine animals.

Lives on continental shelves and slopes at depths between 125 and 823 meters in saltwater regions of the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
