The smooth-hound is a sleek, elongated shark that inhabits continental shelves and upper slopes. It prefers bottom swimming and mainly hunts crustaceans, cephalopods, and small fishes. This species is prized as a game fish and can grow up to 2 meters in length.
Where they live
Smooth-hounds live in saltwater across the Atlantic, Indian Ocean, and Mediterranean, typically found from shallow tidal zones down to depths of 350 meters or more on continental shelves and slopes, near the seafloor.
