The Southern stingray is a common coastal species known for its flat, disc-like body and long tail. It often buries itself in sand during the day and actively forages at night. These rays can be found alone or in groups around sandy bottoms and seagrass habitats.
Where they live
Inhabits shallow waters up to about 50 meters deep, favoring sandy bottoms, seagrass beds, lagoons, and reef edges in the Atlantic, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico regions.
