The spotted scorpionfish is a venomous species known for its ability to camouflage and lie motionless on the ocean floor. It hunts prey by ambush in coral reef and rocky environments. This fish is not typically sought after as a game fish.

Where they live

Prefers shallow coral reefs and rocky bottoms in saltwater regions including the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, commonly found between 5 and 55 meters deep.
