Cynoscion regalis

The squeteague, also known as the weakfish, is a popular game fish found along North America's Atlantic coast and Gulf of Mexico. It has a streamlined body and is prized for its fighting ability and tasty flesh. Juveniles inhabit estuaries while adults prefer shallow coastal waters over sandy bottoms.
Where they live
Found in brackish and saltwater, squeteague inhabits shallow coastal areas with sand and sandy mud bottoms, typically at depths of 10 to 26 meters. They seasonally migrate to river estuaries in summer for breeding and feeding.
