The starspotted smooth-hound is a medium-sized shark known for its elongated body and star-like spots. It is a bottom feeder that hunts invertebrates and small fish. Popular among anglers as a game fish, it can be found from shallow waters down to around 360 meters deep.

Where they live

Found in saltwater environments of the Pacific and Indian Oceans, it inhabits shallow intertidal zones to depths of about 360 meters on mud and sand bottoms.
