Tiger flathead are elongated, ambush predators found resting on sandy and muddy sea beds. They are mostly inactive during the day but may swim up at night to hunt prey. This species can grow up to 65 cm and weigh around 3 kg, making it a prized catch for anglers.
Where they live
Found on the continental shelf in inshore saltwater areas of the Pacific and Indian Oceans, typically resting on sand and mud substrates from 10 to 400 meters deep.
