The Yellowstripe goatfish is a schooling saltwater fish notable for its yellow stripes and active feeding both day and night. It inhabits shallow to moderately deep inshore waters and is valued as a game fish. Juveniles tend to prefer sandy shallow areas during late summer.

Where they live

Found in shallow to moderately deep inshore waters across the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. Forms daytime schools and frequents sandy bottoms especially in juvenile stages.
